Located on an organic garlic farm bordering Kananaskis Country in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, Stone Wood & Steel is a family-run blacksmith studio offering hands-on experiences to forge contemporary and traditional pieces with steel and fire. Try your hand at applying traditional blacksmithing techniques in a small group setting, taught by a member of the Blacksmith team.
Inspired by nature, architecture, music and culture, lead Blacksmith James Greisinger has been creating metal artistry for over 25 years. Combining the brilliant silhouettes and formations found in the landscapes of the Canadian Rockies, with the raw tradition of blacksmithing, James proudly presents work that combines an old world specialty with the contemporary. Dedicated to preserving the ancient traditions of the craft, he shares his love and respect for the long heritage of ironmongery, using these skills to forge pieces that suit both form and function.
Full day experiences are offered year-round and immerse guests in learning the craft overlooking the Rocky Mountains.
Stone Wood & Steel welcomes visitors by appointment and for classes and workshops. Check the Stone Wood and Steel website for more details.
